Sometimes, taking care of your fur ball’s hygiene can feel like a lot to tackle, but the truth is that there are just a handful of things to keep in mind when it comes to making sure your pup is in tip top shape.
Do these simple four things regularly to keep canine companions squeaky clean as well as prevent any hygiene-related mishaps!

Daily Teeth Brushing
Brushing teeth gets rid of stinky doggie breath, but it also prevents dental disease, which can get pricey as well as dangerous for your pup’s well-being. A frequent question that dog pawrents have about teeth brushing is how often it should be done. So, how often should you be brushing a dog’s teeth? Daily brushing is the best way to keep those dental issues at bay. That may seem like a daunting task, but it’ll be worth it when you’re not paying those steep dental bills!
Regular Grooming and Bath Time
Regular grooming and bathing doesn’t just keep your furry one looking fresh – it’s also a great opportunity for checking their skin and coat for signs of parasites or skin issues. And after baths isn’t the only time brushing should happen, with how often you brush your dog depending on their breed and the season. Dogs with longer fur may require daily brushing while those with short coats like pugs can get away with weekly brushing. It’s a good idea, however, to bathe and brush after major outings to prevent fur matting or skin irritation caused by leftover residue.
Trimmed Nails and Moisturized Paw Pads
Trimmed nails are less likely to break while out and about. Excessively long nails can get caught and cause painful tears that are difficult to treat and heal because dogs are always on their paws. And moisturized paw pads won’t be prone to cracking, which can quickly lead to lesions in colder temps or outdoor excursions. Keeping those nails trimmed and paws soft year-round helps keep them protected!
Ear Check-ups
Ear canals aren’t just home to ear wax. They can harbor bacteria, dirt, and even parasites! Checking ears for any abnormalities catches any potential problems before they get out of control. Luckily, our canine companions are pretty tolerant of having us look in their ears, so there’s no excuse for skipping this easy-to-do routine.
If a disability, illness, or injury is making it difficult for your fur baby to stay clean, using an indoor dog bathroom can help! A real bark pee pad like Bark Potty offers all the benefits of the great outdoors until your pooch is back to their happy, healthy self again.
