Sure, there are plenty of ways that you can train your dog, but do you know which way your dog will respond the best? Out of the many different training tips for dogs, one thing that has always seemed to be the best is to praise your dog and make sure you listen to him. This goes a long way, but there are many other ways to get your dog to do certain things, such as use his potty patch made just for dogs. In our previous post, we started giving readers a couple tips on the best way to train for potty patch use. Here is some more advice for dog training:
- Be sure you tell your dog what you want him to do. It’s important that you tell your dog “no” if they’re doing something wrong, but there are also other beneficial ways to go about telling your dog “no.” Next time, instead of using “no” to let your dog know you want him to do something else, tell him exactly what you want him to do. This way your dog can avoid confusion next time. For example, if your dog jumps on people when they walk through the door, instead of yelling “No!”, simply tell your dog “Sit!”
- Be consistent with your cues. Dogs will remember cues when they’re repeated over and over again. So whenever you decide to train them on our dog potty made specifically for dogs, be sure to stay consistent. This means training the rest of your family with cues too. For example, if you want your dog to sit down, your entire family should say the cue the same way: “Sit” or “Down.”
