- Be sure you tell your dog what you want him to do. It’s important that you tell your dog “no” if they’re doing something wrong, but there are also other beneficial ways to go about telling your dog “no.” Next time, instead of using “no” to let your dog know you want him to do something else, tell him exactly what you want him to do. This way your dog can avoid confusion next time. For example, if your dog jumps on people when they walk through the door, instead of yelling “No!”, simply tell your dog “Sit!”
- Be consistent with your cues. Dogs will remember cues when they’re repeated over and over again. So whenever you decide to train them on our dog potty made specifically for dogs, be sure to stay consistent. This means training the rest of your family with cues too. For example, if you want your dog to sit down, your entire family should say the cue the same way: “Sit” or “Down.”
