- It’s important that you have realistic expectations for your dog. Understand that your dog may need some time to change his behavior. So, if your dog is familiar with using a backyard as a bathroom and you recently moved to an apartment where the backyard is no longer an option for a potty break, it’s important that you adjust your expectations. Retraining your dog how to do something they’ve always been taught to do outside can take time; be patient.
- Feed your dog great food so their bowel movements are consistent. Now this isn’t a tip that many folks consider, but it's important to understand that if your dog has an upset stomach, their food could be to blame. Help them by allowing their use of the potty patch for dogs to be easy with regular bowel movements. You don’t want your dog to feel uncomfortable stuck in a house with the runs all day.
