- It’s important that you have realistic expectations for your dog. Understand that your dog may need some time to change his behavior. So, if your dog is familiar with using a backyard as a bathroom and you recently moved to an apartment where the backyard is no longer an option for a potty break, it’s important that you adjust your expectations. Retraining your dog how to do something they’ve always been taught to do outside can take time; be patient.
- Feed your dog great food so their bowel movements are consistent. Now this isn’t a tip that many folks consider, but it's important to understand that if your dog has an upset stomach, their food could be to blame.
