- Make sure you’re listening to your dog. If your dog appears to be uncomfortable with the situation, don’t push them. Your dog will most likely not enjoy being pushed to do something he doesn’t want to do, so listen to their body language and respect it. Forcing an issue can actually result in bigger problems way down the road.
- Give affection and be generous. There are plenty of dog owners who don’t have a problem with being clear about their current state of happiness with their dog, but often these people tend to ignore praising a dog for the good stuff that can sometimes slip through the cracks. This is a big mistake. So make sure that if your dog is doing something awesome, you praise him with a lot of love and attention. This especially becomes important when your dog is starting become familiar with their indoor dog potty. And remember, it’s okay to be little over the top with affection at times; your dog will love it!
