Ok, let’s get the negatives out of the way first, because there are very few.
For one, it’s a little pricy for something made out of bark and cardboard. I think they could charge less and still make their money back on the product. However, it is by far the cheapest product of its kind that I have found, so I can’t complain too much.
Second, it does smell after a while. A big part of their advertising is that it doesn’t smell, and it definitely doesn’t for a while. And when it does, it isn’t to the degree that other similar products would. But anything made to collect pee is going to smell if you wait long enough. However, as long as you’re intending to use it outside, like on a patio, the smell is not very noticeable. I just wouldn’t recommend it inside for long term use. Not unless your going to replace it a lot more frequently.
And really those are the only negatives. Other than that, it’s a great product! It was a life saver when potty training my 2 puppies while living in an apartment.
I live in the city so it doesn’t always feel safe to go out for a potty brake in the middle of the night. However, training the puppies to use puppy pads in the house just made them think it was ok to pee on any blanket or rug that happened to be on the floor. These bark potty’s can be left on the patio so my dogs still have to potty outside, but I don’t have to go out where it feels unsafe. You don’t have to bring it in when it rains or snows either.
